Turn duties into evidence
A useful bullet explains what changed because of your work.
- Start with a precise action, not a personality adjective.
- Name the scope: product, team, market, volume or constraint.
- Add a truthful outcome; numbers help only when you can defend them.
Instead of ‘Responsible for onboarding,’ try ‘Redesigned onboarding for two markets, reducing the median completion time by 18%.’
02
Keep the document parseable
Straightforward structure helps both recruiters and software extract the right information.
- Use familiar headings such as Experience, Education and Skills.
- Keep essential contact text selectable; do not place it only inside an image.
- Prefer a clear single reading order and verify the exported PDF by selecting its text.
03
Tailor without copying
A job description is a research source, not text to paste blindly.
- Identify recurring skills and responsibilities you genuinely have.
- Use the employer’s term when it accurately describes your experience.
- Never add a tool, degree, result or responsibility you cannot explain in an interview.
04
Protect personal information
Share only what the application needs.
- Avoid identity numbers, full home addresses and unrelated sensitive details.
- Remove hidden comments and revision history before sending a file.
- Name the exported file professionally and re-open it before uploading.
